Came across this paper as New York Central Art Supply closed. At the time I had no idea what it was and made these pleated paper models with it, to see what it could do. This one’s of Maison Citrohan, circa 1933.
There are ten in total. Each one is based on a book called Le Corbusier Paper Models, 10 Kirigami Buildings to Cut and Fold, by Marc Hagan-Guirey, Laurence King Publishing (London UK: 2020)
This one is Courbusier’s Maison de weekend, circa 1934. I did not study architecture and don’t know that much about Courbusier’s life and work but am a total fan, for obvious reasons.
This one has a pond. Not only does this one have a pond in the front yard, it has a S L I D E for accessing the pond, first thing in the morning, directly from the second floor.
It’s in India and called Villa Sarabhai, circa 1955. Amazing the illusion of kirigami. There are ten plans in Le Corbusier Paper Models by Marc Hagan-Guirey, Laurence King Publishing (London UK: 2020)
Later learned the paper is 230 GSM Pergemanata Parchment. This is a model of Courbusier’s High Court in India.
This one has a ramp that passes through the center of the building, again on the secondfloor, for direct access in either direction across a city block.
