Lucy Pullen (Canadian, b. 1971) lives and works in New York. Her work is held in public, private and institutional collections including The Perimeter substitute for Theoretical Physics (Waterloo Canada) and The Royal Bank of Canada (Toronto, Canada). Functional, modular, figurative and paper sculptures are available through Lovitt NYC. She studied with The European Graduate School in Saas Fee Switzerland (ABD ‘12) and The Pratt Institute (SAVI ‘16) for the purpose of making art. Pullen holds degrees from Tyler School for Art & Architecture (MFA ‘01) and NSCAD University (BFA ‘94) formerly The Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, by way of Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art and The University of King’s College (FYP ‘90). She attended The Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture (Maine: 1998), Bemis (Nebraska: 2001), The Banff Centre (Alberta: 2007), and The Straumur Art Commune (1998) in Hafnarfjordur Iceland. Positions held include a tenured Assistant Professorship in the Faculty of Fine Arts at The University of Victoria and multiple seminars as a visiting artist in the New York metropolitan area. Pullen has history of interdisciplinary collaboration that includes Dr. Justin Albert Phd. and The Dept. of Physics and Astronomy in Victoria; Sandy Plotnikoff in Halifax; Will Rogan in San Francisco; and Eleanor King in New York. Reviews and publications include Sculpture Magazine, Canadian Art, and C Magazine among others. The Canada Council for the Arts has supported the work since 1995, which was nominated for a Sobeys Art Award in 2004.
